n-Butanol is a clear, colorless liquid that is flammable. It has a characteristic banana-like odor and is used to produce other chemicals, as an ingredient in formulated products such as cosmetics, and as a solvent (HSDB 2010). Over 10 billion pounds of n-butanol was consumed world-wide in 2002 (Dow 2014). ToxServices assessed n-butanol against GreenScreen ® Version 1.2 (CPA 2013) following procedures outlined in ToxServices’ SOP 1.37 (GreenScreen® Hazard Assessment) (ToxServices 2013).
